Building Local Connections for Provincial Impact
The Skilled Trades Regional Networks (STRN) connect employers and educators to create meaningful opportunities for students to explore and prepare for careers in the skilled trades.

Inside the Skilled Trades Regional Networks
Launched by ApprenticeSearch.com and Skills Ontario, and supported by the Ministry of Education, the Regional Networks are designed to:
- Increase access to experiential learning in skilled trades across Ontario
- Bridge the gap between industry and education
- Support educators in delivering real-world experiences to students in Grades 7–12
What We Do
The Regional Networks bring together a diverse group of stakeholders, including employers, school board representatives, sector associations, and community organizations, to:
- Expand cooperative education and OYAP opportunities
- Facilitate donations of tools, equipment, and materials to schools
- Coordinate career talks, guest speakers, workplace tours, and job shadowing
- Strengthen local awareness of skilled trades pathways and workforce needs
By working regionally, we ensure that student experiences are relevant, accessible, and aligned with local industry demands—all while supporting Ontario’s goal of increasing skilled trades participation among youth.
Growing Across Ontario
In 2024–25, the network doubled in size—from four to eight regional networks, including a French-language advisory network—reflecting growing demand for industry-education collaboration.
More Regional Networks are being planned for 2025-26. Stay tuned for more information.
Together, we’re building a stronger skilled trades workforce in Ontario.
